Founded in 1996 by the customary leadership of the Anishinabe, Maigan-Agik is a self supporting community which lives off the land, outside the bounds and resources defined by the Indian Act. We maintain the traditional culture, language, and life of the indigenous peoples who have lived on Turtle Island since time immemorial. Canada was founded on the principle of a tri-cultural compact between the French, English, and Indigenous peoples. We honour that promise by walking the three roads laid out in front of our nation. We have founded this site as a way of sharing our cultural practices with the world and to raise awareness about the many communities which continue to thrive off these land.
Our community is always growing and changing. We are always looking for volunteers, or donations to help us make our vision a reality. We'll help you find a way to volunteer that enriches you and the community.
Continuing to live off the land would not have been possible without the guidance of our Elders and the preservation of our culture through generations. Migwetc.
We are dedicated to improving the lives of those in our community. Your contribution today helps us make a difference and we will soon be able to receive donations. Please keep checking back!
